Leucojum

Leucojum belongs to the family Amaryllidaceae. It is a compound of Greek leukos “white” and ion “violet”. .Leucojum aestivum belongs to the genus Leucojum and it is now one of only two plants classified in this genus. It originates from Central and Southern Europe. It grows 35-60 cm in height, has narrow fleshy leaves that grow directly out of the soil and are arranged in a circle around the flower stems. The flowers are white bells hanging folded and shrunken in amrelas inflorescence , and at the top there are 2-7 bells. It blooms in April and May.
