Hyacinthus
Hyacinthus is a bulb plant from Small Asia and is known in Europe from the 16th century. It has long, narrow leaves and fragrant flower that resembles a cluster. Hyacinth bulb has a light purple or cream shade and is covered with dry shells similar to paper. It should be planted at a depth of about 15 cm, the distance between the bulbs should be 15-20 inches and it should be in a sunny spot where the country is rich in compost or peat. Hyacinth grows 20-30 cm in height. It is planted in the fall in a garden or in pots that should be brought into the house to prevent the bulbs from freezing. For hyacinth bulbs to bloom they must be exposed to a certain period of a low temperature (that’s why it is planted in the fall).
