Gloxinia
Gloxinias appertain to family of Geseneriaceae. They originate from tropical areas of Brazil and they remind of violets. The difference between gloxinias and violets is that gloxinias have considerably bigger flowers, sometimes they are double-flowered. Gloxinia is a houseplant, it should be kept in a sunny spot, but protected from the direct sunlight. Gloxinia bulbs belong to the spring season. Gloxinia springs from the bulb that is planted into peat compost in such way that leaves the upper part of the plant in line with the ground, sometime between February and March. Each bulb should be planted in a separate flowerpot (12-15 centimeters in diameter) and watered quite a lot, but later you must not water them too much, until the bulbs start to grow. Later you should water them only when the top layer of soil is completely dry. When the plants grow you can start watering them plenty. However, it is recommended that you still continue to water them and then dry them, which will speed up the blossom of gloxinias.
